Maya Tutorial - How to Create Wet Road Surface in Arnold
In this Maya tutorial we will be creating a very cool wet asphalt surface and also puddles using Maya 2018 and Arnold rendering engine. the shader we will be creating will utilize masks to separate the wet areas from the dry areas on our geo.
In order to create the wet surface first we will look at a reference image and talk about whats type of effect we need to replicate in Maya and what settings we need to change in order to get to the result that we are after.
We will create a noise 2d texture and customize it to create our own mask and then apply this mask to the specular weight and the diffuse roughness to achieve a fast and reliable wet surface effect in Maya.

Hello there! I need a quick answer to this question. What units is adequate in Maya for the use of Renderman. We know Maya default unit is cm, will that work with Renderman, because I have read for example RenderMan's unit size for subsurface is millimeters. So shall the model be in millimeters in Maya for Renderman or can it stay at cm. Many thanks in advance for any useful answer to this question

i cant found the edit curves menu on maya 2023... so i cant make it. any other way ?
in Maya 2023, you can find the cluster effects in the Rigging menu set, select Deform > (Create) Cluster. Before that, you have to Hold & Right Click Mouse on the Curves and select Control Vertex, and you have to cluster each of the vertex one by one. Hope this helps.

For some reasons when I do decimate my model went from 52K tris to 92K .. I’m confused on why it increased the poly count
Galaxies the size of the Milky Way usually have about 1 trillion stars (give or take a few hundred million). Make this system create a trillion particles and you'd have a relatively accurate galaxy in terms of scale.
Thanks a lot for your tutorial. May I ask you ? I`ve been having an issue. I was retoping animal nose and the poly surface of it is "broken" I can`t select it with any tool only if I go to the select window and press "select all" Also that broken surface is somehow in its own group without the living surface object of the original nose. How could it be fixed?
